MIMECYCLE | 2018 - Present
Premiering in Seattle in February 2018 Mimecycle is a (nearly) non-verbal solo show about braving Seattle streets on two wheels and true grit. Heavily inspired by Sylvain Chomet's Triplets of Belleville and Pixar shorts—and fueled by clown and mime—Henry James Walker pulls the audience into their imagination and behind the handlebars in a whirlwind physical theatre piece. When traffic hums the mantra “the only good cyclist is a dead cyclist”, our hero sheds his fight or flight impulse and has learned to love the ride.
Mimecycle was originally titled One Man, Two Wheels, directed by Emily Harvey, and was produced at 18th & Union: an arts space in Seattle, Washington. The show became Mimecycle and performed at the Sylvia Center for the Performing Arts in Bellingham, Washington in May 2018, at the Slate Theater in Seattle August 2018, and then toured to the Chicago Fringe Festival in August/September 2018.
Mimecycle is currently in redevelopment for a fringe tour in 2020. Follow me for details of variety shows in Chicago this fall, and info full run Q4 of 2019!
